All about Bird vs. Bird Designs

Hi! Maybe you are wondering, “What the heck does Bird vs. Bird mean? Does this have something to do with ILLEGAL COCKFIGHTING? And by the way, could you make me a custom wallet with a drawing of a Pomeranian wearing a princess outfit?” The answer on both counts is no.

Bird vs. Bird Designs is just little old me. Fond of birds and woodland creatures. Fond of crafting. Even more fond of crafting things out of landfill-bound materials. By day I work merrily at a commercial sign shop, designing and printing great big banners and signs for all kinds of businesses. And as I go about my work, I (with the permission of my employer) print on and save the waste margins and end bits of the mighty rolls of adhesive vinyl and banner we run through our huge printers. By night I draw new pictures of my favorite feathered pals, daydream about new product ideas, and trim and stitch those workplace scraps into wallets, purses, magnets and stickers. I’ve let this website/blog languish lately, mostly because I rarely have Exciting Business Announcements, so as of now, Fall 2008, I’m going to try something new.  In addition to all the breaking Bird vs. Bird Designs Official News you’ll ever need, I’m going to make a concerted effort to post little doodles and notes about all the other things I’m up to.  Because when it comes right down to it, I just really, really get a kick out of making things on the cheap with my own two hands, whether it’s sewing a tote bag or boiling up an unnecessary amount of fig jam or growing piles of chard.  Even though I don’t really like chard.

I enjoy reading about other people’s projects, so I figure maybe I’ll enjoy reading about my own.  Maybe you’ll enjoy it too.
